How To Download YouTube Videos with VidDownloader
It’s so deliciously easy…
1. Copy the video’s URL
2. Go to VidDownloader.com
3. Paste in the video’s URL
4. Click ‘Download’ button
5. Choose (at the bottom of the page) either ‘just audio (MP3)’ or ‘video+audio (AVI DivX)’
6. Click the ‘Get’ button and wait…
7. And wait some more… ( I said it was easy, not fast).
8. Go do something else for awhile…
9. When the ‘Download file’ page is up, right-click on ‘Download file’
10. Done.
This also works with Google videos, Myspace videos, and a few others. The great thing is that it converts it to AVI format for you, which other, similar services (so far) do not. I think the reason it’s so slow right now is that it got mentioned on Lifehacker (and probably Digg and other popular sites as well), so it’s bogged down with traffic.
But downloading MP3s with it is reasonably fast, even now. So, say you find a great interview, or some live footage of a band, that has decent audio quality, and you want to keep it forever and ever as an MP3, now you have an easy way. A friend of mine wanted an MP3 of one of my covers, so I tried it and it came out great.

***UPDATE***
They’ve changed this a bit. It’s now a Firefox plugin you need to install, and the steps for downloading are different. In certain respects it’s easier, in other ways it’s annoying, but it still does the same things as before, in the end. Hopefully they’ll keep improving on it over time, so it’s less annoying (it does weird counterintuitive things - you’ll see - but I guess once you’ve used it a few times and know what to expect, it won’t seem counterintuitive anymore).

nice, I’ve used keepvid.com before but I’ll give vidDownloader.com a try next time I want to download something from YouTube.
