Songs To Play At My Funeral
So it appears I’m going to be on a soundtrack to an upcoming indie film, ‘Songs to Play at my Funeral’ by Nickolas Rossi. From what I can tell, it’s sort of a This-American-Life-esque exploration of breakups, love and loss. It looks pretty interesting. I’m excited to see it in its entirety, regardless of my soundtrack inclusion. He’s got a bunch of clips up on his Youtube channel if you should wish to check it out.
Here’s a rough clip he just put together for me (featuring my cover of ‘Waiting For a Superman‘) to give me a sense of what he’s going for. He gave me permission to blog about it but insists it is a “very rough draft!” And I insist the same of the music! I’ll be recording a better version soon, though, so don’t worry your pretty little head.
I’ve also promised him some originals, which is great, because it’s exactly the push I need to get over this stupid artistic paralysis I’ve been experiencing. From the sounds of the soundtrack so far, my diddies will be in very good company, so I can hardly pass up the priviledge. Anyway, stay tuned.

copycat :)
You’re a copycat…
Shut up.
Whoa cool website! Stopped by looking for some tunes but ended up wanting to go trick or treatin’ Your quite the scribe btw.
Congrats on getting featured in that movie; hopefully you didn’t have to make out with the eloquent dude with the big goatee. =]
Love the “guitarchive”! Definitely good place for someone stuck in a rut searching for some sound sounds to lay down.
whoa awesome!
THAT’S AWESOME, BROOKE! WAY TO GO! I’LL DEFINITELY CHECK IT OUT.
LUVYA!
great news, brooke! hope the collaboration helps roll your rock to the ‘it’s all downhill from hereonin’ point…the good, wind-in-the-face, effortless, laughing-all-the-way kind of downhill, that is. not the other, downwardly spiralling sort that usually ends with a resounding thud-slash-splat-like jolting sound.
the rough cut shows a lot of promise. keep us posted. especially looking forward to hearing those original muse murmurings of yours. i’m sensing your collection of covers merely hints at what’s hiding behind those bangs. by the looks of your blossoming viewership i’m far from the only curious george in the book.
Hope your week ‘off’ is of the leisure-infused ilk. we youtubers & co. can be a well-meaning albeit overly chirpy bunch at times. the need to temporarily distance oneslf from ‘the voices’ (at least the one’s that emanate from ‘out’side your brain) is an understandable one. the coming week ahead involves a similar pc fast for me as well. not a vacation exactly (whatever that is). more of a downhill sabbatical. of which brand of downhill remains to be seen.
enjoy your you time, brooke.
shine on in whichever way you darn well please.)
