we’ve been along this road before
in our shaky old caravan
sleeping on the floor
scaring children for fun and profit
theirs and ours
we’ll share that floor again, love
in good time
in good time

    A late night
    A noisy bar
    The music is too loud to talk
    So we just yell
    Short and stumpy phrases
    Not a lot of thought
    Mostly, just smiles and a toast

    Here, I’m out of place
    After all, what did we accomplish?
    …a hangover?
    …another tale?
    Regardless, I cannot help but
    See that in all this madness
    We were together.
