my return from the dead.
Hey everybodies!
I’ve just returned from a long Greyhound trip so I’m gonna keep this short n sweet. Word on the street is my site has been down for a few days, and I didn’t even know it! Thanks to those of you who emailed me about it. I was in Northern Utah all week hanging out with friends and having good times, making music, playing disk golf, filming little skate videos and being silly! Oh yeah, and getting CPR.
I almost kinda died last night and I’m not sure why. Driving back home from a skate park with two friends, out of nowhere I started getting crazy stomach pains and waves of nausea, and there was nowhere to pull over, and before I knew it I just passed out from the pain. I’ve passed out from pain before, and come to on my own and been fine, but this time apparently my mouth clamped shut and I stopped breathing for a minute or two. All this was happening going 70 on the freeway. Thank God there were three of us, the driver was awesome and the one who wasn’t driving was also awesome and knew CPR. He did the heart-jolting thing since he couldn’t open my mouth at all, and slapped me and yelled at me until I came back. He saved my life. He’s totally my new best friend. Larry, you rule, I love you. Caleb, you too. I couldn’t have asked for two better people to have been there for me in that situation. Thank you.
Now I’m just basking sleepily in gratitude. It’s so great to be alive. I’m so lucky. I’m pretty sure that’s the closest to death I’ve ever come. I have no exciting out-of-body or near-death experience to speak of, really, but I know I was way out in space or something for what seemed like an eternity until I heard those distant voices, slowly getting closer, yelling “BREATH!” and felt myself come back from very very far away.
Anyway, I must go now. It’s great to be back. More soon.
