For You (demo) by the brooke

A very rough demo. Still playing with different melodies, arrangement n all that, but here you go anyway!

FOR YOU (mp3)

LYRICS:

Would you let me take your hand
And tell you what it says?
Would you let me take all of your pain
And turn it on its head?

Give to me your doubts and fears
I will make them disappear for you
Open wide your troubled mind
I will hypnotize it clear for you

Lay down your sleepy head on my chest
And breath along with me
Can you feel what my hands are telling your skin
And the love that I am feeling for you?

Give to me your doubts and fears
I will make them disappear for you
Open wide your troubled mind
I will hypnotize it clear for you

Don’t forget these words my dear
I am always always here
Don’t forget these words my dear
I am always always here for you

    lovely lyrics :)

your voice makes it perfect… are you using reverb? maybe it’s just me, your voice lingers hovering in my head…

You may have just written the first neuro-linguistic lovesong. There’s a real Harvest Moony, coyote heartache-before-the-howl kind of magic singing semi-silent back-up with you on this, B. Your melody in the verses especially shine through. Have you considered a career in music therapy? Healing, through the sheer power of mellifluousness.

ninja music therapy, of course. :)

…immediately whisked me away to a magical realm… what did he/she mean by “eh” anyway- I looked it up and it’s actually an exclamation that can be used in a variety of situations… so maybe it meant “BRILLIANT!” Yeah, that was probably it. So perhaps the arrangement could be tweaked a bit, but it sounds like an ethereal lullaby to me…. I always love you vocals, but I REALLY loved these vocals… smooth as whip cream… but tastier… and fewer calories… Rock on Brooke

your voice makes it perfect… are you using reverb? maybe it’s just me, your voice lingers hovering in my head… and i also like how the lyrics are very “pure”, straight to the point, still not insipid… because in the end, when we love and we are devoted, everything is much clearer…

(i posted this same text under a new name, but it just didn’t get across… something with your blog elves… they’re really inquisitive!)

What an amazing find… looking up karma police covers I come across “the brooke” your voice heals my troubled soul.

I can’t help but to wish I had a chance to tune down the volume on the guitar just a bit to give your voice a lil more room .. maybe its just me but sometimes in the song I get distracted when I wanna listen to your singing ..

I’m no pro at editing and I might be all biased considering I really like your voice .. just fealt I should give you my honest opinion yeh.

Anyways, good luck with the song :)

Wow. You’re amazingly talented. Where are you based?

If you wrote that yourself (I have no reason to believe you didn’t) then I offer you congratulations and can’t wait to hear the finished article.

You’ve brightened my day, which until has been awfully depressing. Thank you!

Too much reverb in this recording, though you do add a disclaimer saying it’s a rough demo–but anyway, this is a good demo in terms of melody and structure, I think; except 2:48 where you appear to lose track for a moment. It’s difficult to be objective on anything else.

Something about this performance reminds me of an Anna Ternheim song. The sustained “you” perhaps. That’s the part I notice the most; that lingering Eb.

    Regards,
    Ray

Sure and it’s silly, being a girl, but this could honestly be the song I’d choose for my wedding dance. I’ve fallen in love. Your voice has been what’s kept me coming back to listen for more; this song has proven every visit worthwhile.

there we go - I second Martin’s comment - or maybe he seconds that comment I made to you last week - and I third myself - something like that. We like your vocals way up front. This one didn’t sound TOO off to me… moreso the Bedroom concert … like “Behind the Garage” - I want to here more Brooke.

i kow you’re tired of cover suggestions… but on the bedroom concert you did sugar mountain halfway, and i just love how you play it, you give it another mood, i can feel you making it yours, if you know what i mean… and it i such a beautiful song… im sure you wouldn’t have much trouble playing it all and it would only take a few minutes :) … im sorry, but i NEED it!

if you say no, i’ll understand, but then… do you remember where did you got the tabs from?… i’ll do it myself :)

It is as sweet as John Lennons “Oh my Love”…… a nice lovely warm song and a brilliant voice. Thanks Brooke for giving me that feeling.
