Baby, I Was Born On A Train

Woo! I finished my new improved version of Born On A Train [UPDATE: here’s a better mix] for the Magnetic Fields Tribute album! And behold the beautiful cover art which I collaged together out of paper, computers and magic.
The album is slated for release in early March, and it will be available for free at the 001 Collective. Thanks to James Eric for dreaming up and coordinating the whole thing!
And hey, why not check out the original “Born On A Train” via this lovely Magnetic Fields video?
I’ll just be over here, being awesome.
Ways I’m Full Of Shit (installment the first)
In the spirit of acknowledging how full of shit we all are (not to dwell on it, but it can be self-educational), I must apologize for the fact that I’ve totally dropped the ball on that godstar portrait project I was going on about here and there last year. I doubt anyone who sent in photos, etc. has been holding his/her breath on it (they’ve more likely forgotten about it entirely), especially since most who ’signed on’ have known me a little while - long enough to begin to suspect I’m a bit of a flake at times. But still, I feel a little bad about it.
The lesson for me here is: Hey, priorities inevitably shift around, especially when it comes to creative, self-initiated projects that you’ve thought up on various whims, in various moods. Nothing unusual or wrong with that. But - note to self - keep your damned mouth shut about it, particularly if it’s going to involve other people, until you’re actually in the midst of DOING it and/or are pretty darn sure you’re going to follow through.
Okay, so that said, I still really do want to pursue the godstar portraits project, I just have no idea when.
…and suddenly she felt a little lighter.

More Than 7 Good Things (A Picture Show by the Brooke)
Oh my goodness, I’ve been tagged by a ‘blog meme’! I feel so internetty. Gyrus, fellow internetter and friend of the show has tagged me. He seemed embarassed (”I don’t normally do this sort of thing…”), but I guess these things are usually quite lame, as in “list your top ten favorite kinds of bunny!” But I agree that this one’s good, as opposed to lame, so I accept and here is my response:
The challenge is to list ‘7 Positive Things‘. It must contain no traces of negativity, no sneaky inversions of things I don’t like - just seven things about which I can truthfully say, “I am all for this.”
I’ve decided to do it in the form of a picture show! I’ve also decided to go over 7 things if I feel like it (which it turns out I do), because I’m a renegade who plays by her own rules.
(Tag, you’re it).
* GOOD * T H I N G S * P I C T U R E * S H O W ! *
(I am all for these things and I approve these photos).

Sweet adorable pets (ie: my cats, Puffy & Neko).

Making art! (ie: mixed media collage, yum!)

Splicin’ sounds and sexy sentence structures.

Nature (especially being out in it).

My cozy bedroom studio.

Wisdom. Gradual, daily change for the better. Candles.

Improvitaping! Courage. Resolve. Divination (via cootie catcher). Jello. Hollow Earth radio. Supernatural things. Making things out of magic.

Crazy friends and high fives.

Night-time walks in snowy silence.

Juggling. Music. The Magical Approach. A life of one’s own design.

A healthy diet of mad wisdom, religious poetry and different perspectives.

Reverence for life.

An irreverent sense of humor (especially about yourself and your ‘art’).

Also, touques with dangly things.
Do you have a big but?
Turn this up loud (because the audio on it sucks, but the profound wisdom contained is worthwhile).
P.S. - Pee Wee’s Big Adventure: Great movie or the Greatest movie?
P.P.S. - Happy Festivus! (aww… flashback).
