Merlin the Magic Baby

Hey everyone. I hope you all had an amazing holiday and that your new years kicked off well! Just wanted to pop in and share some news… :)

My honey and I had the most amazing gift ever given to us on December 10th, 2008… Our little boy Merlin was born, our little miracle. Words cannot describe how in love I am with this little guy.

We spent our first couple weeks with Merlin at Seattle Children’s hospital. He has a condition that puts him at risk for seizures and a couple other things, so he had to undergo all kinds of tests and be monitored closely for awhile. He also was born with a birthmark on his face (part of the condition) which makes his face look like a little yin yang. We love it. He is a magic little Buddha baby. He made so many amazing things happen in his first few days and weeks of life, you wouldn’t believe it. He brought both our families together, which was awesome! He traveled two states in his first two days (he is a Sagittarius). And health and happiness-wise, he’s doing great.

As for me, motherhood is something so new and so intense and so wonderful, it can’t be described, it can only be experienced. All I can say is it’s worth every sacrifice a thousand times over, and I can’t wait for every one of you to become a parent and know the joy that Larry and I feel each day looking at this precious little human being, who is so powerful and yet so completely innocent and dependent on us for everything, and so so beautiful…

While we were staying in Seattle at the hospital, we bought a ukulele to serenade little Merlin with. He loved it so much. Check out this beautiful video of him listening to his daddy play to him. He loves music. He’s really responsive to it, and recognizes songs we played for him while he was in my belly. :)

Well, not to go on and on. I wasn’t sure whether I even wanted to post this, being such a private person and not wanting to plaster images of my baby all over the internet. But you guys are cool and besides, I can’t help myself. I have to show the little dude off a little. He’s so awesome! :)

That said, forgive me if I’m not back here checking and replying to comments anytime soon. I do come and read them every so often, and I appreciate them all (except for the spam), but one thing I do not have is much free time (I had no.. idea)… and that time is usually spent asleep or definitely doing something other than typing on the internet. So needless to say the blogging hiatus most definitely continues. You all understand. I wish you all the best, and rest assured, eventually, I will be back!

much love,

the Brooke and family :)

Skate Videos (2 Different Edits)

Larry made these new videos with more footage I shot of him. They’re neato. He’ll be sponsored in no time.

The Intergalactic Underground!

This is the best and funniest expression of my own personal philosophy I’ve ever seen!

in case you appreciate awesome things…

Here’s not one, but two awesome things I’ve recently come across.

Awesome thing #1!

If you have any use for free sound effects, samples, drum loops, audio whatevers.. and if you like them to be all three kinds of free (royalty, copyright, and just free).. and if you like websites that are actually nice n’ user-friendly with good searchability and are not ugly.. and if you like the idea of a cool community project by fellow music/sound people who all contribute original audio samples for anyone to use.. you have to check out SOUNDSNAP!

Awesome thing #2!

Has anyone seen Stop Making Sense by the Talking Heads? Man, I gotta. Check out this awesome weird interview with David Byrne:

(brought to us by Tim, friend of the show).

Bonus Awesome Things:

Awesome Line Dancing Album!

Awesome Kicking Techniques!

Nintendo!

I Love This Kid!

Ethan Haller from New Zealand is way cool! …which just further proves my theory that people from New Zealand are way cool!
